Open Voice

1. Refer to Rules 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 24, 49, 52, 64 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
2. Competitors must be age 18 or over.
3. Own choice of three songs which are not specified test pieces and are not from oratorios or operas.
4. All songs must be of English, Canadian or American derivation and must be composed to English words.
5. Competitors may enter in only one voice classification in Sections 20-31 and may not enter Advanced or Graded Classes.
6. A piece of music, whether prescribed or own choice, cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class. Repertoire which does not coincide with stated categories will result in disqualification. See Rule 23.
7. All music in this section must be of at least ARCT or equivalent level (not necessarily on current lists).Grade 10 or lower not acceptable. Competitors to check Current RCM and Conservatory Canada lists.
8. To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of two classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
9. Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
10. Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
11. Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
12. All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition (June, 2024) upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that a minimum of 5 pieces are required for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 25, 2024.
