Trombone - Open - ARCT & Above

  1. Refer to Rules 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 49, 53, 54, 55, 65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
  2. Competitors entering Open classes may not enter Graded classes.
  3. Selections do not need to be memorized, but it is strongly encouraged.
  4. All music in this section must be of at least ARCT, Licentiate, or equivalent level (not necessarily on current lists). Grade 10 or lower not acceptable.
  5. NEW: Participants may enter a class more than once as long as different repertoire is entered. A separate registration is required for each entry.
  6. A piece cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class. Repertoire which does not coincide with stated categories will result in disqualification. See Rule 25.
  7. To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
  8. Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
  9. Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
  10. Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
  11. All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition which will be held in Kitchener-Waterloo, June 9-14, 2025, upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that two (2) pieces are required for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 30, 2025.

Two consecutive movements of a concerto are required.

Repertoire must be at the ARCT level or above but does not need to be listed in the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) or Conservatory Canada (CC) syllabus.Grade 10 or lower not acceptable.
