Music, Speech Arts & Visual Arts Syllabus - 2025 - Voice
Folk Songs
- Refer to Rules 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 25, 50, 52, 65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
- Own choice of one selection which must be of valid folk song nature. No contemporary pop folk songs, musical theatre or pop selections are permitted.
- Any language and may be performed in a key suitable for the voice.
- NEW: Participants may enter a class more than once as long as different repertoire is entered. A separate registration is required for each entry.
- A piece of music, whether prescribed or own choice, cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class.
- To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
- Accompaniment may be either piano or guitar.
- Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
- Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
- Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
- All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level competition (June, 2025) upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that 2 pieces are required for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 30, 2025.
