Violin or Viola - Concert Group

  1. Refer to Rules 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 49, 53, 54, 55, 65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
  2. All selections must be played from memory except of Sonatas.
  3. Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
  4. To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of two classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
  5. Classes in this section do not qualify for the Provincial Competition
  6. A piece cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class. Repertoire which does not coincide with stated categories will result in disqualification. See Rule 24.
  7. Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
  8. Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
  9. Please note that these classes are not eligible for recommendation to the Provincial Finals.

Own choice of two unrelated selections. (Multiple mvts. not permitted.) Only ONE piece may be taken from either the current Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada syllabus. Competitors will be judged on the discrimination shown in their selection, on the programme group arrangement with regard to contrast in period, style, appropriateness, key, etc., as well as technique and interpretation. Time limit 25 mins.

Own choice of two unrelated selections. (Multiple mvts. not permitted.) Only ONE piece may be taken from either the current Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada syllabus. Competitors will be judged on the discrimination shown in their selection, on the programme group arrangement with regard to contrast in period, style, appropriateness, key, etc., as well as technique and interpretation. Time limit 20 min
