Duets and Trios

  1. Refer to Rules 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 49, 53, 54, 55, 65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
  2. Use of music is permitted.
  3. For classes 10155 to 10162, competitors must enter the class corresponding to the age of the oldest member of the duet/trio.
  4. Competitors who are playing at the ARCT level or above must enter the Open class regardless of age
  5. NEW: Participants may enter a class more than once as long as different repertoire is entered. A separate registration is required for each entry.
  6. A piece cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class. Repertoire which does not coincide with stated categories will result in disqualification. See Rule 25.
  7. For classes in this section duets/trios mean 1 piano, 4 hands or 1 piano, 6 hands./li>
  8. To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of two classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
  9. Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
  10. Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
  11. Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
  12. All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition which will be held in Kitchener-Waterloo, June 9-14, 2025, upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 30, 2025 and that only one piece will be required.
