Music, Speech Arts & Visual Arts Syllabus - 2025 - Songs from the Screen and More

1. Refer to Rules 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 49, 53, 54, 55, 65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
2. NEW:Participants may enter a class more than once as long as different repertoire is entered. A separate registration is required for each entry.
3. A piece of music, whether prescribed or own choice, cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class.
4. To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
5. Maximum performance time - 6 Minutes.
6. Music choices DO NOT have to be from RCM or Conservatory Canada Lists.
7. Selections must be songs that were written between 1980-present and were written for, or first appeared in a movie or film.
8. Musical Theatre, Popular Voice and Classical Vocal songs are not permitted.
9. Sheet music must be provided to the adjudicators (No charts or tabs permitted).
10. Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
11. Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
12. Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
13. All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition which will be held in Kitchener-Waterloo, June 9-14, 2025, upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that two (2) pieces are required for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 30, 2025.
