Operetta, Opera & Oratorio
- Refer to Rules 12,13,14,15,18,19,20,23,65 and 80. Read all Syllabus rules with care.
- NEW:Participants may enter a class more than once as long as different repertoire is entered. A separate registration is required for each entry.
- A piece of music, whether prescribed or own choice, cannot be used by a competitor in more than one class.
- Own choice of a song from any operetta, opera or oratorio by composers such as, but not limited to: Lehar, Romberg, Herbert and Gilbert & Sullivan.
- Translation into English must be supplied for the adjudicator.
- Piano accompaniment only.
- To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
- Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
- Participants have the option to participate either "in person" or "virtually". This decision must be made at the time of registration.
- Participants who choose the virtual option will be responsible for arranging to have a video recording made of their performance and for creating a YouTube channel that can be shared with the Toronto Kiwanis Festival Office via the online registration system.
- All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition if the pieces are listed in either the Royal Conservatory of Music or Conservatory Canada Syllabus. (June, 2025) upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware that 2 pieces are required for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be March 30, 2025.
