Sheila Vandikas – Pianist
Filipino Canadian pianist Sheila Vandikas has enjoyed a dynamic and multifaceted musical career spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. With over four decades of teaching experience, she is deeply committed to nurturing a lifelong love of music in aspiring musicians. Based in the Greater Toronto Area, she leads a thriving private studio and continues to inspire through her dedication to music education, performance, and adjudication. 

Sheila is a former music teacher, course liaison, and national consultant for Yamaha Canada Music, where she trained both students and instructors within the company’s corporate music schools. She also served as Newmarket’s Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Exams Representative until 2024. She regularly serves as an adjudicator for music festivals and examinations and is a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association and the Association of Canadian Women Composers.

Currently, Sheila is the Visual and Performing Arts – Newmarket Coordinator for the Young Artist Showcase Series and the director of MuSix Studio and Services, where her musically active family of six maintains a vibrant teaching and performing schedule. An accomplished collaborative pianist, she regularly performs with soloists, ensembles, and music studios throughout the region.

In addition to performing and teaching, Sheila is an active composer and arranger. Her four- hand piano arrangement of Libertango was featured on CBC’s In Concert by the acclaimed duo La Fiammata. Her original works for piano trio received their world premieres in July 2023 at the Canadian Music Centre and again in February 2024 at Newmarket Old Town Hall.

Sheila is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. Beyond
music, she holds a black belt in Goju-ryu Karate and enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband.
