Emily Chiang

Emily Chiang is a Toronto based pianist and teacher. Born in Taiwan, she made her debut at the age of six, and has since been active as a recitalist, performing locally in Toronto and internationally. She has performed as a guest soloist with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Lima Symphony Orchestra and the Concordia College Symphony Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician, Emily has also performed at Winspear Centre and Banff Centre for the Arts and was a fellow in Toronto Summer Chamber Institute in 2012. She has many ongoing projects including an upcoming piano duo recital and piano-violin duo recitals in Toronto in 2024.

Equally dedicated as a teacher, she is currently on the piano faculty at the University of Toronto. In addition, she has served as an adjudicator for OYMI Music Festival and has recently given a guest lecture and masterclasses at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.

Emily earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music studying under Alvin Chow and subsequently completed her Master of Music at the Indiana University working with Menahem Pressler and Arnaldo Cohen. In 2013, she completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Marietta Orlov.
